Primary Care
Waterbury HEALTH has experienced, highly-trained primary care/internal medicine physicians (often called internists) who focus on adult medicine. We care for patients for life –from teen years through the end-of-life.  Our physicians have had special training that focuses on the prevention and treatment of adult diseases. At least three of their seven or more years of training are dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases that affect adults. Some of our physicians complete additional training to "subspecialize" in one of 13 areas of internal medicine, such as cardiology or geriatrics. Our primary care physicians/internists are often called upon to act as consultants to other physicians to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems.
Choosing a Primary Care Provider
Patients are able to choose primary care providers who are either a Family Medicine Physician, Internal Medicine Physician, Physician Assitant (PA) or an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Regardless of your age, gender or health status, you should have a Primary Care provider that meets your individualized needs.
