ACCESS REHAB CENTERS, A WATERBURY HEALTH AFFILIATE, MARKS 25 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Access Rehab Centers, a Waterbury HEALTH affiliate and greater Waterbury’s largest therapy provider celebrated its 25th anniversary and remarkable growth.
In late October 1998 Waterbury Hospital formed a new partnership with Easter Seals that combined the Grandview Clinic and the Easter Seal’s clinic at 22 Tompkins Street to form a new free-standing company called Access Rehab Centers. Since then, the organization has seen some remarkable growth as it has touched the lives of thousands of patients over the years. Starting with 35 staff and seeing about 16,000 outpatient visits a year, Access Rehab has expanded to over 200 staff who provide 200,000 patient visits a year.
"The significant expansion of services offered to the community and the widespread availability of locations have played pivotal roles in its outstanding success,” said Waterbury HEALTH President and CEO Dr. Justin Lundbye expressing his joy in joining Access to celebrate a quarter century of growth.
“Access Rehab Centers has managed to stay focused on doing the right thing. We see patients of every age, every diagnosis, and accept every payer source. Access has the best group of clinicians and professionals that I have ever worked with in my entire career,” said Access Rehab President Brian Emerick.
Access has 12 clinics throughout greater Waterbury and two specialty clinics, making it the largest therapy provider in the Greater Waterbury area, and the fourth largest provider in Connecticut.
In addition to its outpatient clinics, Access has an exceptional team of inpatient clinicians and over 37 therapists providing services throughout the Waterbury Public School system.
Access is the only outpatient provider in the area that is accredited by CARF (Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), which indicates that Access provides the highest documented quality and broadest array of therapy services in the Greater Waterbury area. Eight of the original 35 staff members are still with the Company more than two decades later.
Broad range of services:
Access Rehab treats a broad range of orthopedic and neurologic conditions and also has a Pediatric Center and a Women's Health Center, each staffed by specialists trained in those disciplines. It has certified therapists specializing in other areas such as hand therapy, dizziness and balance issues and post cancer-surgery management, to name a few.
By offering a full spectrum of rehabilitation services, we are able to apply our broad knowledge and skills toward developing the best individualized treatment plan for each patient.
